Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent has stepped up controls over fare payments on public transport.
From 1 to 22 September, administrative protocols were issued against 14,051 passengers for failing to pay their fares on time, the press service of the Ministry of Transport said.
Control and awareness-raising measures are being carried out by employees of the state institution “Monitoring and Control of Passenger Transport in Tashkent.” The main focus is on ensuring that passengers comply with the requirement to pay their fares on time.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the number of protocols issued during the first 22 days of September increased by 8,494 compared with August. This represents a 153% increase.
Since 1 September 2026, a new fare payment procedure has been in effect on all Tashkent city buses operating under gross contracts.
Under the new rules, passengers must pay their fare immediately upon boarding the bus.
Monitoring compliance with the new payment procedure is continuing.
