Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent’s Main Department for Transport Development and Road Transport Infrastructure has explained the procedure for temporarily blocking fare validators on city buses during checks of fare payment.
The clarification was issued following information circulating on social media about the temporary blocking of the devices.
Under Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 276 dated 3 June 2026, from 1 September passengers on city buses equipped with an automated fare payment system have been required to pay their fares when boarding.
Passengers entitled to discounted or free travel must confirm their eligibility in accordance with the established procedure.
The transport authority said temporary blocking of validators is applied as part of monitoring compliance with these requirements.
The measure is aimed at improving payment discipline and fare payment culture, as well as developing the habit of paying fares on time.
The procedure for temporary blocking is set out in an Instruction approved by the Minister of Transport’s Order No. 14 dated 16 January 2026.
The authority stressed that the main purpose of temporary blocking is not to impose fines on passengers, but to ensure compliance with the requirement to pay the fare when boarding and to improve fare payment culture.
At the same time, proposals concerning the proper operation of validators, passengers’ free access to the devices and the creation of more convenient conditions for fare payment will be taken into account.
