China FAW Group Corporation (FAW) is China's oldest state-owned automaker, founded in 1953 in Changchun with Soviet assistance. Its first product was the Jiefang truck, based on the Soviet ZIS-150. Today FAW is one of China's largest automakers, owning the premium Hongqi brand, mass-market Bestune, and commercial-vehicle brand Jiefang. FAW also partners with international automakers like Volkswagen and Toyota, strengthening its global position.
Interesting fact
Hongqi (‘Red Flag’) limousines carried PRC leaders at parades since 1958 — today the same badge sells electric crossovers to private buyers.
