BAIC is one of China's largest state-owned automotive corporations, founded in 1958, encompassing several vehicle and machinery manufacturers. The name stands for Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation; BAIC Group ranks among the top 10 automakers in China and is the country's second-largest maker of commercial vehicles.
Its portfolio includes passenger-car brands ARCFOX, BEIJING, and BAIC ORV, plus commercial brands BAIC Foton and BAIC Changhe. Joint-venture brands include Beijing Benz, Fujian Benz, Beijing Hyundai Motor, Foton Daimler, and BAW (Beijing Automobile Works) — formerly a subsidiary specializing in military and utility vehicles.
