Hongqi is one of China's oldest and most prestigious car brands, the flagship marque of China FAW Group, founded in 1958. The name translates as "Red Flag" and symbolizes state significance; the correct pronunciation is close to "hong-chee" (also seen as "Hongqi").

Distinguishing feature

The brand is traditionally tied to state institutions and used at major national events — the motorcade of Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping is led by the flagship armored limousine, the Hongqi N701. Today Hongqi builds a full range of premium cars: sedans, crossovers, and EVs.
