Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Events within the framework of the III Meeting of the Council of Regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, scheduled for 5–6 October, have begun in Ferghana region.

The arriving Russian delegations are exploring the region’s industrial, investment, agricultural and tourism potential.

One group of participants was welcomed at Ferghana International Airport by regional governor Khairullo Bozorov together with representatives of government organisations.

The Russian delegations include Novosibirsk Region Governor Andrey Travnikov, Krasnoyarsk Krai Governor Mikhail Kotyukov, as well as heads and representatives of other Russian regions, ministries and agencies, industry organisations, chambers of commerce and industry, and business circles.

The first site visited was the joint venture Crown Ceramic, located on the territory of the Kokand Free Economic Zone branch in the city of Kuvasay.

The guests were shown the production of porcelain stoneware tiles, modern technological lines and the company’s production capacity. The project is designed to produce up to 8 million square metres of porcelain stoneware annually. The production capacity allows the company to manufacture products worth 1 trillion soums a year, create 665 billion soums in added value and export US$35 million worth of products.

The share of local raw materials in production reaches 97%. The company produces large-format porcelain stoneware for export in six formats. Its products are supplied to neighbouring countries.

The Russian delegations also visited Quartz JSC in Kuvasay, one of the region’s major industrial enterprises specialising in the production of sheet and coloured glass.

Commissioned in 1975, the enterprise has two float lines. The first, equipped with European machinery, is designed to produce 200 tonnes of products per day and up to 10 million square metres of glass annually. The second, with a capacity of 400 tonnes per day, produces polished glass and has a designed annual capacity of 22 million square metres.

The company produces transparent, light-green, brown, grey and black glass. It also manufactures glass bottles and jars to individual orders. Quartz products are sold on the domestic market and exported abroad.

In Kuva district, the delegations familiarised themselves with the operations of Quva Agro Star LLC, an agricultural complex with a full production cycle, from growing agricultural products to their storage, sorting, processing, packaging and export.

The 3.5-hectare complex can grow and prepare up to 5,000 tonnes of 12 types of products annually.

It has an in vitro laboratory and nursery, which together enable the cultivation of more than 1 million seedlings a year. An Agro-Industrial School also operates on the site, where farmers and local residents are trained in modern horticultural technologies.

The cold storage complex has a capacity of 3,500 tonnes. Modern sorting, packaging and IQF shock-freezing lines use Italian and Spanish technologies.

Quva Agro Star products are supplied to Japan and the United Kingdom. In 2025, the company also began exporting products to Japan and South Korea for the first time using charter flights. More than 80 people work at the enterprise.

Another site visited was a tourism complex on the territory of the Karkidon Reservoir in Kuva district. The project envisages developing the area as a centre for ecological, agro- and extreme tourism.

The complex covers 508 hectares. It includes 45 chalets, 57 guest houses, an agrotourism complex, a flower garden, lavender fields, an eco-market, recreation areas and restaurants. Further stages of the project are still under implementation.

The project plans to create more than 100 business entities and around 2,000 jobs. The complex is expected to accommodate up to 750,000 tourists annually.

The development of active and extreme tourism is also planned, including motocross facilities, karting, a cable car and a golf course.

During the visits, the Russian delegations were presented with information on ongoing investment projects, enterprises’ production capacities, the level of localisation, export potential and prospects for the region’s development.

The main events of the III Meeting of the Council of Regions of Uzbekistan and Russia are scheduled to take place at the Ferghana Expo International Exhibition Complex and IT Park.

Participants will discuss the expansion of direct interregional cooperation, interaction between business communities and industry organisations, implementation of new investment projects and development of industrial cooperation.
