Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Vietnam’s ROX Group is considering investment projects in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara, Samarkand and Jizzakh regions. Regional officials announced the plans on 11 September following a meeting between company founder Anh Tuan Chanas and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In Bukhara region, the company presented a project to develop large-scale facilities on an area of more than 85 hectares. According to regional governor Botir Zaripov, who spoke to Uzbekistan 24 television, the investment is estimated at US$2 billion.

The project envisages the construction of real estate, housing, schools, parks and other infrastructure. Preliminary estimates indicate that its implementation could create 5,000–6,000 jobs and improve housing conditions for more than 50,000 people. Following the meeting, the president instructed the authorities to develop a roadmap for the project.

In Samarkand region, ROX Group presented a concept for the integrated development of an area near a tourist complex. According to regional governor Adiz Boboev, the project envisages additional hotels, service facilities, housing and other infrastructure for tourists.

The president instructed the authorities to prepare relevant proposals with the company in a short period, draft a corresponding resolution and submit it to the Presidential Administration. According to Boboev, the complex is expected to contribute to the region’s tourism potential and increase the length of tourists’ stays in Samarkand.

Several projects were also proposed to the company in Jizzakh region. According to regional deputy governor Bakhrom Yusupov, representatives of ROX Group are expected to visit the region.

In Arnasay district, the investor has been offered a five-star hotel project near a lake. Another hotel project is being considered in Zaamin district, along with the creation of an industrial zone covering about 600 hectares under an industrial mortgage scheme with the involvement of international investors.

Jizzakh region has also proposed projects to ROX Group for new housing construction and the development of industrial zones.

At the same time, ROX Group is considering a project worth about US$1.5 billion in Tashkent’s Uchtepa district.

The project would cover 37 hectares and involve the construction of business and entertainment centres, housing and new infrastructure. The company also plans to develop projects in Uzbekistan in real estate, energy and financial services.
