Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Pharmaceutical Technical University (PTU) plans to introduce educational programs in bioinformatics and biomedical engineering based on the experience of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries said.
Agency Director Abdulla Azizov held a meeting with TUM representatives, during which the sides discussed cooperation in education, research and innovation in the pharmaceutical and medical sectors.
Following the meeting, the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industries, PTU and TUM signed a cooperation agreement. The document provides for the introduction of the “Bioinformatics” and “Biomedical Engineering” educational programs at PTU using the experience of the German university.
The new programs are expected to help train specialists for the modern pharmaceutical and medical industries, introduce international experience into the educational process and strengthen PTU’s research capacity.
The participants also discussed further expansion of cooperation in education and research, implementation of joint projects and training specialists in modern fields.
For reference, TUM is an internationally recognized higher education and research institution.
According to data cited by the Agency, TUM ranks 25th globally and first among universities in the European Union and Germany in the QS World University Rankings 2027.
