Uzbek DPM holds meeting with representatives of the World Bank

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 April, Deputy Finance Minister Jamshid Abruev met with World Bank delegation headed by Ms. Maddalena Honorati, Senior Economist of the Department of Social Protection and Labor of the World Bank.
On the part of the World Bank, the meeting was attended by social protection specialist Marina Novikova, economist Roberto Sormani, consultant Elia Pietro. On the part of the Ministry of Finance, Director of the Department of Social Protection Gulnora Murodova and her deputy Rafael Klivleev, as well as Deputy Executive Director of the Off -budgetary Pension Fund under the Ministry of Finance Nuriddin Shadikhodjaev and Head of the Department of the Extra-budgetary Pension Fund Zayniddin Aralov.
The purpose of the meeting was to identify areas for further cooperation between the parties on the development of the social protection system in Uzbekistan. Prior to that, the World Bank assisted in improving the information system "Single Registry of Social Protection" and determining the criteria of need when assigning benefits to low-income families within the framework of the project "Strengthening the social protection system in Uzbekistan" with the provision of material, technical and expert support. During the meeting, the parties presented their vision on priority areas in the implementation of the next World Bank project.
At the same time, the issues of the introduction of the social insurance system, further improvement of social assistance measures, ensuring the interconnection of employment promotion and social protection programs, expanding the functionality of the information system "Single Registry of Social Protection" with the coverage of additional social security programs were considered.
Following the discussions, the parties agreed to expand mutually beneficial relations and make the voiced proposals to the program of further cooperation with the World Bank.
