Uzbekistan starts to build power line to boost export to Afghanistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
The Uzbekenergo [Uzbek energy] state joint stock company has started the construction of a 500-kV high-voltage power transmission line Guzor-Surkhon.
The US$93 million power line will make it possible to increase export of Uzbek electricity to Afghanistan.
In October 2008, the Islamic Development Bank gave the company a US$42 million loan that will be spent on buying necessary equipment.
The Uzbekenergo state joint stock company announced a tender for the procurement of equipment needed for the construction of the high-voltage power line and reconstruction of two substations.
