The Government of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On measures on further development of educational information network ZiyoNET” on 10 July 2013.
According to the resolution, Uzbektelecom has been selected as operator for connection of general schools, academic lyceums, professional colleges, higher educational establishments, youth organization, information-library establishments, museums and other educational, scientific and and cultural-educational establishments of Uzbekistan to information network ZiyoNET.
The resolution said that Uzbektelecom will provide access to ZiyoNET to educational, scientific and cultural-educational establishments via xDSL, FTTx and CDMA-450 technologies.
CDMA-450 technology will be used to provide access to educational, scientific and cultural-educational establishments, which located in remote areas and had no opportunities for use of xDSL or FTTx technologies.
