Norway sensatinally knocks out Brazil to reach World Cup quarterfinals

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The national team of Norway has reached the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup for the first time in history, defeating Brazil with a score of 2-1 in their round of 16 match. The encounter took place in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA.

The main hero of the match was Erling Haaland, who netted a brace. The Norway forward scored in the 79th and 90th minutes of the game. The only goal for the Brazilians was converted by Neymar, who successfully implemented a penalty kick in the 90+10th minute of stoppage time.

Brazil had been awarded another penalty kick during the first half, but Bruno Guimaraes failed to beat the opposing goalkeeper in the 14th minute.

In the quarterfinal stage, the Norwegian team will face the winner of the match between the national teams of Mexico and England.

This marks a historic achievement for Norway, as the team has never previously progressed past the round of 16 at a World Cup. The Norwegians had priorly participated in the global tournament three times, exiting in the round of 16 in 1938 and 1998, and failing to advance past the group stage in 1994.
