Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Naqsh Craft School was inaugurated in the capital, established with the support of the Culture and Arts Development Fund and the King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts (KFSTA), the oldest British school of traditional arts.
This was announced by Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan.
For many years, KFSTA has trained artisans from around the world in architecture, ornamentation, calligraphy, and traditional crafts. This unique expertise will now be shared in Uzbekistan.
In its first year, Naqsh will offer five courses. The first will begin in Tashkent, followed by one in Samarkand at Ulugh Beg Madrasa, where participants will study Islamic art patterns using 15th-century monuments as examples.
“It is gratifying to know that ancient crafts are gaining a future and that artisans are inspired to pass them on,” Saida Mirziyoyeva noted.
