Mirziyoyev Orders Faster Winter Preparation for Oil and Gas Sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a report on the progress of preparations in the oil and gas sector for the 2026–2027 autumn-winter season. The presentation examined measures to ensure an uninterrupted supply of natural and liquefied gas, as well as other types of fuel, to the population, social sphere facilities, and economic sectors.

Special attention was paid to preparing the gas transportation infrastructure. Before the start of the heating season, plans aim to replace 53.7 kilometers of defective sections of main gas pipelines and conduct major repairs on 77 gas-pumping units at compressor stations.

To increase the reliability of gas supply and reduce technological losses, modernization of the distribution system is envisioned. In particular, 220,000 households across 881 mahallas will be transitioned from a three-stage gas distribution scheme to a two-stage scheme. In addition, plans include the major repair and reconstruction of 711.9 kilometers of gas networks and 400 gas distribution points.

The report also examined measures to provide the population with liquefied gas. During the autumn-winter period, it is scheduled to supply 325,700 tons of liquefied gas, including 8,200 tons for 104,700 consumers living in 229 remote settlements.

To establish the necessary fuel reserves for December and January, provisions have been made to create a reserve of 120,000 tons of motor gasoline. During the heating season, it is planned to deliver 4,161,000 tons of coal to thermal power plants.

Within the Uzbekneftegaz system, the repair of 90 technological units is planned, which is expected to ensure the stable operation of production facilities and the uninterrupted supply of energy resources to consumers.

The president noted that preparation for the autumn-winter period must be conducted comprehensively, involving not only the oil and gas industry but also the energy and communal sectors. In this regard, he instructed the organization of the work of republican and territorial commissions, which will coordinate preparatory activities and exercise constant control over their execution.

Following the review of the report, responsible officials were instructed to ensure the timely and high-quality execution of all planned works, and to guarantee a stable supply of natural and liquefied gas, alongside other types of fuel, to the population, social sphere facilities, and the economy in the upcoming heating season.
