Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates plan to jointly explore a new railway route linking Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan (CASA), with access to Pakistani seaports.
As part of the project, the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation on the CASA railway project.
The project envisages the creation of a new railway corridor aimed at strengthening transport connectivity between Central and South Asia.
The implementation of the route is expected to create additional opportunities for international freight transportation, trade and logistics, as well as expand investment cooperation among the participating countries.
The proposed route will provide railway connectivity from Kazakhstan through Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to Pakistan, with onward access to Pakistani seaports.
