Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Kamilla Rakhimova has advanced to the third round of the WTA 1000 China Open in Beijing.
In the second round, the Uzbek tennis player defeated Canada’s world No. 26 Leylah Fernandez in three sets. Rakhimova won the match 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
Fernandez reached a career-high No. 13 in the world rankings. Her most notable Grand Slam result came at the 2021 US Open, where she reached the final.
Reaching the third round of the China Open earned Rakhimova 65 ranking points. The tennis player has also secured US$61,865 in prize money.
In the next round, Kamilla Rakhimova will continue her campaign for a further advance through the tournament draw.
