Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Dono Bobokhonova Dies
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Dono Bobokhonova (Danisia Dayanovna Babakhanova) has passed away at the age of 79, according to the Uzbek State Drama Theatre, where she devoted many years to the stage.
Dono Bobokhonova was born on November 20, 1946. After graduating from the Tashkent Institute of Theatre and Fine Arts, she began her professional career at the Yosh Gvardiyachilar Theatre.
In 1996, she was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan in recognition of her contribution to the development of national performing arts.
She gained wide recognition for her roles in theatre as well as in film. Among the most notable works featuring her participation are “Bozor ko‘rmagan yigit” (“A Boy Who Has Never Seen a Bazaar”), “Arazlasang, o‘laman” (“If You Take Offense, I Will Die”), “Chol va nabira” (“The Old Man and His Grandson”), and “Tilim qursin.”
According to the theatre, Bobokhonova is survived by a large family, including nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
