Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A “Green Wave” traffic management system has been launched on the Ferghana Highway in Tashkent, synchronizing the operation of 13 traffic light installations along a six-kilometre section of the road. The system operates around the clock.
The Green Wave covers the section from the Kuylyuk-ota mausoleum, located beyond the Kuylyuk Bridge, to UzBUM. The Tashkent Traffic Management Centre said.
According to the centre, measurements showed a reduction in travel time along the section during off-peak hours.
Previously, the journey took around 12–13 minutes, while after the traffic lights were synchronized, the time fell to approximately nine minutes. This represents a reduction in travel time of about 25%.

The main purpose of the system is to reduce the number of stops at red lights, smooth traffic flows and shorten travel times.
The Ferghana Highway is one of the key transport entry routes into Tashkent. A significant flow of vehicles from Tashkent and Tashkent Region enters the capital through the Kuylyuk direction, after which traffic is distributed towards the city’s central districts.
Specialists from the Tashkent Traffic Management Centre are continuing to monitor the situation along the section around the clock.
