Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Gayané Umerova, Chairperson of the Uzbekistan Fund for the Development of Culture and Arts, attended the opening ceremony of Art Basel Qatar 2026 — the first-ever edition of the international contemporary art fair Art Basel held in the State of Qatar.
The exhibition featured 87 galleries from 31 countries, presenting 84 art projects that reflect a wide range of contemporary artistic practices and trends.
The event took place at the M7 venue and the historic Msheireb Downtown Doha as part of the conceptual program Becoming.
Art Basel Qatar has become a significant event in the region’s cultural life and a new platform for international artistic dialogue. The fair’s format emphasizes solo projects and site-specific works, fostering deeper interaction between contemporary art and urban environments.
