Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s five largest commercial banks accounted for 49.1% of the banking system’s total assets, 52.1% of loans and 45.4% of deposits as of 1 August 2026, according to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
The five smallest banks in each category accounted for less than 1% of the respective market.
UzNatsBank remained the largest bank by assets, with 145.8 trillion soums, or 14.3% of the sector’s total. Its assets increased by 3.7% year on year. Agrobank ranked second with 124.2 trillion soums, or 12.2%, after increasing its assets by 28.2%. Uzpromstroybank ranked third with 105.2 trillion soums, or 10.3%, with assets rising by 10.2%.
The top five were completed by Kapitalbank, with 62.1 trillion soums and 20.3% growth, and Asakabank, with 62 trillion soums and 5% growth. Total banking system assets stood at 1,016.6 trillion soums.
The same three banks occupied the top three positions in lending. UzNatsBank’s loan portfolio amounted to 105.5 trillion soums, representing 16.4% of the market, after declining by 0.4% over the year. Agrobank increased its loan portfolio by 23.5% to 92.6 trillion soums, or 14.4% of the market. Uzpromstroybank’s loans fell by 11.8% to 60 trillion soums, or 9.3%.
Asakabank ranked fourth with 39.6 trillion soums in loans, followed by Kapitalbank with 38 trillion soums.
UzNatsBank also led the banking sector in deposits, with 58.4 trillion soums, or 12.1% of the market, representing 27.4% growth. Kapitalbank ranked second with 48.9 trillion soums, or 10.1%, after increasing deposits by 26.2%.
Agrobank’s deposits grew by 66% to 43 trillion soums, while Uzpromstroybank’s deposits increased by 46.8% to 37.6 trillion soums. The top five were completed by Halk Bank, with 31.1 trillion soums and 18.8% growth.
Saderat Bank had the smallest assets in the banking system at 619.6 billion soums. The bottom five by assets also included Poitakht Bank with 1 trillion soums, Madad Invest Bank with 1.1 trillion soums, Open Bank with 1.7 trillion soums and AVO Bank with 2 trillion soums. Together, these five banks accounted for 0.63% of the sector’s assets.
Saderat Bank also had the smallest loan portfolio at 8.7 billion soums, followed by Uzum Bank with 326.5 billion soums, Poitakht Bank with 579.7 billion soums, Madad Invest Bank with 583.7 billion soums and Octobank with 727.3 billion soums. Their combined share of the banking system’s loans was 0.35%.
Saderat Bank had the smallest deposit base at 50.6 billion soums. The bottom five also included Open Bank with 174.9 billion soums, Poitakht Bank with 199.6 billion soums, Madad Invest Bank with 214.4 billion soums and AVO Bank with 829.4 billion soums. Together, they accounted for 0.3% of system-wide deposits.
As of 1 August 2026, Uzbekistan had 34 commercial banks. Their combined loan portfolio amounted to 644.6 trillion soums, while deposits totalled 482.7 trillion soums.
