Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Law enforcement agencies in two countries have dismantled an international drug trafficking network operating along the Tajikistan–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan route, officials said.

During operational activities, Interior Ministry officers established that a 33-year-old man had organized the illegal import of hashish from Tajikistan into Kyrgyzstan in large quantities for further distribution.

The suspect was detained while attempting to sell the narcotics. A search of his person and vehicle uncovered three packages containing a substance with a strong odor, with a total weight of around 3 kilograms.

A subsequent search of his residence uncovered an additional 31 similar packages. The total weight of the seized narcotics amounted to 31 kilograms and 398 grams, bringing the overall volume to 34 kilograms and 448 grams.

Further operations were conducted in Uzbekistan, where Interior Ministry officers seized 14 kilograms of hashish and 1 kilogram of opium. A 31-year-old citizen identified by the initials H.T. was also detained on suspicion of involvement in the trafficking network.

Authorities are continuing investigative measures to establish all circumstances of the case and identify additional participants in the criminal scheme.
