Côte d’Ivoire Defeat Ecuador in World Cup 2026 Opener

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Côte d’Ivoire opened their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a victory over Ecuador in a Group E match.

The game, played in Philadelphia, ended 1-0 in favor of the African side. Amad Diallo scored the winning goal in the 90th minute.

Following the opening round of matches, Côte d’Ivoire collected three points and improved their position in the group. Earlier, Germany recorded a 7-1 victory over Curaçao in the same group.

In the second round, Côte d’Ivoire will face Germany on 20 June 2026. Ecuador will take on Curaçao in their next match, which is scheduled for the night of 21 June Moscow time.
