Chirchiq Water Utility Managers Penalized Over Heat Safety

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's State Labour Inspectorate has imposed administrative penalties on the management of the Chirchiq branch of Suv ta'minoti following an investigation into reports that employees were required to work in extreme heat without compliance with occupational safety requirements.

The inspection was launched after reports appeared on social media. It found that on 18 July 2026, six employees of the branch had carried out work during daytime hours in high temperatures and adverse working conditions.

Following the findings, the head of the branch was held administratively liable under Article 49, Part 1 of Uzbekistan's Code on Administrative Responsibility for failing to comply with the Labour Code, the Law on Labour Protection and SanPiN (SanQvaN) 0069-24 sanitary regulations.

The employer was also issued mandatory compliance orders.

The inspectorate instructed the employer to schedule work before 10:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m., provide workers with drinking water, shaded rest areas and personal protective equipment, and maintain continuous monitoring of the health of employees working in high-temperature conditions.

The State Labour Inspectorate said protecting the life and health of workers is the primary responsibility of every employer.
