Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Children’s Ombudsman has taken control of a case involving violence against a minor in Bukhara region. A criminal case has been opened over the incident.
According to the ombudsman, the incident occurred on 28 August. Citizen E.R. travelled to Bukhara region to meet his daughter O.D.
During the meeting, he forcibly put E.O., a minor boy born in 2009 who had come to the meeting, into a car and took him to the home of his relative F.F.
There, E.R., F.F. and other individuals beat the teenager.
As part of a preliminary investigation, a forensic medical examination was ordered. According to its findings, the minor sustained bodily injuries to various parts of his body.
On 7 September, a criminal case was opened against E.R. and F.F. under paragraphs “a” and “c” of Part 2 of Article 137, as well as Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
The district prosecutor’s office is conducting the initial investigative proceedings in the criminal case.
The Children’s Ombudsman urged people to refrain from spreading unverified information about the case, citing the need to protect the honor and dignity of the minor victim.
The ombudsman also said it would continue monitoring the protection of the child’s procedural rights during the investigation.
