Alpari Analyst: Soum Holds Steady Against US Dollar
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 18 June 2026, the exchange rate of the US dollar against the Uzbek soum remained practically unchanged from the previous week, according to data from Alpari analyst Anna Bodrova.
By her estimate, the rate stood at around 12,047 soums per dollar, compared with 12,049 soums a week earlier, indicating minimal fluctuations in the currency market. The analyst noted that despite high external volatility and a challenging news backdrop, the national currency is showing resilience.
The stability is attributed to a balance of external and internal factors. On one hand, fluctuations in commodity prices and the strengthening of the US dollar are putting pressure on currency markets. On the other, Uzbekistan's economy continues to see a stable inflow of foreign currency and relatively balanced demand, which is curbing sharp exchange rate movements.
This dynamic is said to provide predictability for the public and businesses. With a stable exchange rate, price pressure on imported goods is easing, and the level of financial uncertainty remains limited, making it easier to plan expenses.
According to the analyst's forecast, in the short term the dollar-soum exchange rate is likely to remain in the range of 11,950 to 12,120 soums.
