Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Aleksandra Barmicheva won the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors J200 junior tournament in Istanbul.
Barmicheva secured several important victories during the tournament. In the quarterfinals, she defeated the tournament’s top seed, Turkey’s Ayse Bal, who was ranked 83rd in the ITF junior world rankings.
The match ended 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in favour of the Uzbek tennis player.
Before the tournament, Barmicheva was ranked 278th in the ITF junior world rankings.
Winning a J200 tournament earns 200 ranking points.
This will allow the Uzbek player to improve her position after the next update of the junior world rankings.
