Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Abdulvahob Rashidov won Uzbekistan’s first gold medal at the XX Summer Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya-2026 in Japan.
The Uzbek karateka became the champion in the men’s up to 67 kg weight category.
Rashidov defeated all his opponents on his way to the final. In the decisive bout, he faced Japan’s Yugo Kozaki and secured the gold medal.
Another medal for Uzbekistan was won by Nodirbek Shavkatov, who competed in modern MMA in the up to 71 kg weight category. He lost to Kazakhstan’s Kadybek Shinbayev in the semifinal and finished the tournament with a bronze medal.
Earlier, Uzbekistan’s delegation had won a silver medal at the Games.
Uzbekistan now has three medals at Aichi-Nagoya-2026: one gold, one silver and one bronze.
