Yandex Go Launches In-App Charity Giving in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Yandex Go has embedded a charity donation feature into its ride-hailing and delivery app in Uzbekistan, channeling micro-payments from everyday transactions into rural teacher training.
The company has launched a feature called "Helping Together," enabling users across 19 Uzbekistan cities to add a fixed donation — 500, 1,000, 2,000, or 5,000 soums — to the cost of each taxi or delivery order placed through the app. Yandex Go confirmed it will match collected donations from its own funds at the end of each month.
All proceeds are directed to Teach For Uzbekistan, a non-governmental, non-commercial organization that recruits university graduates and working professionals for two-year placements as teachers and mentors in regional schools. The program focuses on building skills in digital literacy, leadership development, and exposure to contemporary science and professional fields among students in underserved areas.
The feature is available to users paying by bank card and can be disabled at any time through the app's settings.
Ground-Level Impact
Teach For Uzbekistan currently has 40 program participants working across 13 schools in the Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions, serving as mentors to more than 6,000 students.
"Regular support from Yandex Go users will allow the organization to expand the program and provide access to additional educational opportunities for more schoolchildren from remote regions of the country," said Diyora Mamadaliyeva, Director of Teach For Uzbekistan.
The partnership reflects a broader pattern of tech platforms in Central Asia integrating social impact mechanisms directly into consumer-facing products — reducing friction between daily spending and charitable giving.
