Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Retail turnover in Uzbekistan reached 370.6 trillion soums in January–August 2026, increasing 18.8% in real terms compared with the same period last year, according to the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Wholesale turnover rose 16.9% to 447.7 trillion soums, while turnover in catering enterprises increased 26.7% to 208.7 trillion soums.

Small businesses accounted for 296.7 trillion soums, or 80.1% of total retail turnover, and increased their turnover by 18.5%. Large enterprises recorded turnover of 73.8 trillion soums, up 20%. Their share rose to 19.9% from 19.7% a year earlier.

Retail turnover grew fastest in Andijan region, by 24.4%, followed by Syrdarya region at 23.1% and Khorezm region at 22.4%. The slowest growth was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan at 9.6%, Navoi region at 14.2% and Ferghana region at 15.6%.

Retail turnover increased 19.2% in Tashkent and 20.1% in Tashkent region.

As of 1 September 2026, 92,434 commercial enterprises were operating in retail trade. Of these, 428 were large enterprises and 92,006 were small enterprises and microfirms.

Wholesale turnover among large enterprises increased 36% to 128.4 trillion soums. Small businesses increased their turnover by 10.6% to 319.3 trillion soums, accounting for 71.3% of total wholesale turnover.

The largest increase in wholesale turnover was recorded in Tashkent, at 20.7%, followed by Andijan region at 15.9% and Surkhandarya region at 15.5%.

The lowest growth rates were recorded in Ferghana region at 6.7%, Namangan region at 8.1% and Tashkent region at 10.4%.

A total of 58,261 enterprises operated in wholesale trade, including 427 large enterprises and 57,834 small enterprises and microfirms.

In catering, small businesses accounted for 78.1% of turnover, while large enterprises accounted for 21.9%. As of 1 September, the sector had 30,390 enterprises, including 148 large enterprises and 30,242 small enterprises and microfirms.

The data for January–August 2026 are preliminary. The figures were calculated taking into account statistical estimates of the informal and unobserved economy.
