Uzbekistan’s Retail Trade Turnover Rises 20.2%
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s retail trade turnover reached 310,901.9 billion soums in January-July 2026, increasing by 20.2% in real terms compared with the same period a year earlier, the National Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
As of 1 August 2026, Uzbekistan had 90,683 commercial retail enterprises, including 424 large enterprises and 90,259 small businesses and microfirms. Turnover generated by large enterprises amounted to 55,228.1 billion soums, representing a growth rate of 126.9%, while small businesses and microfirms recorded turnover of 255,673.8 billion soums, up 118.9%.
The highest regional growth rates in retail turnover were recorded in Khorezm region at 125.9%, followed by Jizzakh region at 123.8% and Tashkent city at 123.7%. Bukhara region posted the lowest growth rate, at 110.9%.
The share of small businesses in total retail trade turnover increased from 82.2% in 2025 to 83.2% in 2026. At the same time, the share of large organizations declined from 17.8% to 16.8%.
Uzbekistan’s wholesale trade turnover amounted to 396,827.6 billion soums in January-July 2026, up 15% from the same period in 2025, when wholesale turnover stood at 326,594.8 billion soums.
As of 1 August, 57,163 enterprises were operating in wholesale trade, including 421 large enterprises and 56,742 small businesses and microfirms. Large enterprises generated turnover of 104,578.7 billion soums, an increase of 131.7%, while small businesses recorded 292,248.9 billion soums, up 110%. Small businesses accounted for 73.6% of total wholesale turnover.
Jizzakh region recorded the highest regional growth in wholesale turnover at 119.5%, followed by Khorezm region at 118.1%. The lowest growth rates were recorded in Ferghana region at 110.6% and Namangan region at 110.8%.
Turnover in the public catering sector reached 170,976.1 billion soums in January-July 2026, rising 16.7% in real terms. The number of public catering enterprises stood at 29,582 as of 1 August, including 147 large enterprises and 29,435 small businesses and microfirms.
Small businesses accounted for 77.6% of public catering turnover, while large enterprises accounted for 22.4%.
