Uzbekistan's Insurance Market Expands in First Half of 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's insurance market recorded growth across its key indicators in the first half of 2026, including insurance premiums, payouts, the number of active policies and insurers' authorised capital, the National Agency for Prospective Projects (NAPP) said.
During the first six months of the year, the number of active insurance policies reached 13.1 million, up 14.9% from the same period last year. Insurance premiums increased by 28.6% to 8 trillion soums.
The authorised capital of insurance companies rose by 37.2% to 4.3 trillion soums. The strongest growth was recorded in insurance payouts, which increased by 81.3% to 2.3 trillion soums.
The total value of insurers' liabilities reached 4,421.3 trillion soums, up 48.4% compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.
As of the first half of 2026, Uzbekistan's insurance market comprised 35 insurance companies. Of these, 27 operated in the general insurance segment, seven specialised in life insurance, and one company was engaged exclusively in reinsurance.
The country also had 10 insurance brokers, seven actuaries holding professional qualification certificates, and 3,684 insurance agents.
