Uzbekistan, Türkiye Discuss Agricultural Insurance Reform

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 29 April, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Akhadbek Khaidarov held talks with representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye and the Turkish agricultural insurance pool TARSİM.

The discussions were attended by the Head of the Department for Agricultural Insurance and Emergency Situations of Türkiye’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Chairman of the Board of TARSİM Kamil Özdemir, Agriculture Counsellor of the Embassy of Türkiye in Uzbekistan Burhan Demirok, as well as officials from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The parties focused on the development of agricultural insurance systems and their sustainable functioning, taking into account the growing impact of climate-related risks on the agricultural sector.

It was noted that in April 2025 Uzbekistan adopted the Law “On Agricultural Risk Insurance,” aimed at improving mechanisms for protecting agricultural producers. In addition, the Agricultural Insurance Fund was established in November to oversee and manage the sector.

During the meeting, special attention was given to improving the qualifications of specialists in agricultural insurance and enhancing the efficiency of all stages of the insurance process, including application handling, damage assessment, and insurance payouts.

The Turkish side positively assessed the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan and expressed readiness to organize training programs for Uzbek specialists on the basis of the TARSİM system.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to implement cooperation in a systematic manner and prepare a joint roadmap to carry out the reached agreements.
