Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan will be allowed to sublease rented land plots to other businesses, including land acquired through auctions, under Presidential Decree dated 27 August 2026, titled “On measures to implement the tasks identified during the VI Open Dialogue of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with entrepreneurs.”

The decree also introduces a separate category of “commercial lease” for real estate rented for business purposes. A standard contract will be developed for such lease arrangements.

The proposal to improve the legal framework for commercial leases was previously put forward by Zafar Khashimov, founder of the Korzinka supermarket chain, during a meeting with the president.

The government also plans to abolish the requirement for state registration of lease agreements concluded for one year or longer. Instead, an automatic registration system will be introduced through tax authorities.

The changes will also apply when ownership of a leased property changes. If the property is sold, the new owner will automatically assume the rights and obligations under the existing lease agreement.

At the same time, guarantees protecting investments made by tenants in leased properties are to be strengthened.

Under the decree, the relevant draft law must be prepared within two months.
