Uzbekistan Signs Strategic MOU With SwissCham ASIA in Geneva

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry has signed a strategic memorandum with SwissCham ASIA in Geneva, establishing an institutional framework for expanding bilateral trade, attracting multinational investment, and connecting Uzbek exporters to European and Asian markets.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Davron Vakhabov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, and Dr. Urs Lustenberger, President of SwissCham ASIA — a signing that formalizes what both sides described as a new architecture for sustained business-to-business engagement.

Under the memorandum's terms, the partnership will focus on three primary vectors: accelerating investment flows, diversifying and expanding mutual trade, and fostering direct dialogue between entrepreneurs from both sides. To operationalize these goals, the parties committed to holding joint business forums, reciprocal B2B meetings, and sector-specific business missions on a regular basis.

The agreement places particular emphasis on attracting large-scale transnational capital, facilitating technology transfer, and providing support for joint startups and long-term commercial projects — positioning the MOU as a vehicle for deep economic integration rather than a ceremonial gesture.

Priority sectors for 2026 cooperation have already been identified, spanning healthcare and pharmaceuticals, conventional and renewable energy, tourism, and education. The breadth of the sectoral agenda reflects Uzbekistan's drive to diversify its economic partnerships beyond traditional regional ties.

The Geneva-signed document is expected to serve as a durable platform for Uzbek exporters seeking footholds in European and Asian markets, broaden their business networks, and strengthen Uzbekistan's overall investment profile on the international stage.
