Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Insurance premiums in Uzbekistan grew unevenly across regions in the first half of 2026, with Samarkand Region recording the strongest increase at 43.1%, while premiums in the Republic of Karakalpakstan declined by 19.6%, according to the National Agency of Perspective Projects (NAPP).
Total insurance premiums nationwide reached 8.019 trillion soums during the reporting period, up from 6.235 trillion soums a year earlier, representing a 28.6% increase.
Tashkent continued to account for the largest share of premiums, generating 6.577 trillion soums, or 82% of the national total. Premiums in the capital increased by 33.2% year on year.
In addition to Samarkand, notable growth was recorded in Ferghana Region, where premiums rose 29.3% to 172.0 billion soums; Tashkent Region, up 29.1% to 163.4 billion soums; Khorezm Region, up 18.1% to 102.6 billion soums; and Andijan Region, up 16.5% to 119.5 billion soums.
Besides Karakalpakstan, premiums declined in Jizzakh Region, falling 11.3% to 65.4 billion soums, and Navoi Region, down 1.8% to 62.2 billion soums.
In Syrdarya Region, premium volumes remained virtually unchanged, declining by 0.2% to 61.9 billion soums. Bukhara Region also remained at roughly last year’s level, with premiums increasing by just 0.1% to 131.3 billion soums.
Insurance payouts nationwide increased by 80.9% to 2.253 trillion soums. In Tashkent, payouts grew significantly faster than premiums, rising 130.2% to 1.989 trillion soums, indicating faster growth in settled claims in the capital compared with the rest of the market.
Thus, while Tashkent continued to dominate the market in terms of premium volume, the insurance markets in Samarkand, Ferghana and Tashkent regions showed the strongest growth in the first half of 2026. Meanwhile, insurance premiums declined in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Jizzakh Region.
