Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) has expressed full support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and its intention to continue close cooperation with the organisation.
The statement was made during Infantino’s visit to Uzbekistan. In Tashkent, the FIFA president reviewed ongoing football infrastructure projects, including the construction of a new stadium in Yangi Tashkent.
Infantino was briefed on the progress of the stadium’s construction, its infrastructure and the conditions being created to host the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Uzbekistan.
The FIFA president also met with Uzbekistan’s national team. The sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Uzbek football, as well as the national team’s participation in international competitions.
During a meeting with the UFA president, Infantino discussed cooperation with FIFA, the development of football infrastructure, support for youth football and the further promotion of Uzbek football internationally.
As part of his visit, the FIFA chief attended the opening of a new football field at Secondary School No. 90 in Tashkent. The project is aimed at developing mass sports among young people and creating modern conditions for football training.
The UFA emphasised that it fully supports FIFA and Gianni Infantino and intends to continue close cooperation with the international football governing body.
