Uzbekistan Discusses Economy at World Bank Meeting
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A Constituency Meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund was held in Washington on April 17, 2026, as part of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF.
The Spring Meetings, held from April 13 to 18, bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, representatives of international organizations, as well as business leaders and civil society actors from around the world.
The Constituency Meeting is an internal World Bank and IMF platform designed to coordinate the positions of countries within the same group and discuss shared areas of cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov, Central Bank Chairman Timur Ishmetov, and Chair of the National Statistics Committee Behzod Hamraev.
Participants presented information on macroeconomic trends in Uzbekistan and measures aimed at ensuring sustainable economic growth.
Discussions focused on global economic risks, financial stability in developing countries, poverty reduction, inclusive growth, infrastructure development, energy cooperation, and support for the private sector. Cooperation with international financial institutions was also addressed.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants agreed to continue cooperation and expand the exchange of experience on key areas of economic policy.
