Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan and China signed a series of agreements worth more than US$400 million following the Uzbekistan–China Interregional Trade and Economic Forum in Nukus, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan said.
The forum was held on 26 September with the participation of Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Ilzat Kasymov. The event was organized by the ministry jointly with the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
Around 400 representatives of government bodies and business communities from Uzbekistan and China took part in the forum.
The Chinese side was represented, among others, by a delegation from Shaanxi Province and representatives of the SilkRoad Industrial Cooperation Center, Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation.
Chinese participants were presented with Karakalpakstan’s investment potential and resource base, as well as existing investor support measures, incentives and promising projects.
During the business programme, the sides discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in mining, geology, information technology and agriculture.
Following the forum, agreements worth more than US$400 million were formalized. The documents cover these and other priority areas of cooperation between Uzbek and Chinese partners.
