Uzbekistan changes fees for state-run kindergartens

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan will change parental fees for children attending state-run preschool educational institutions from 1 September. The new rates will be calculated as coefficients of the basic estimated value (BEV) and will vary depending on the region, the length of a child's stay and the number of children from the same family attending the kindergarten. The changes were approved by a Cabinet of Ministers resolution dated 25 August.

The average parental fee will increase by 6.8%. Instead of fixed amounts, the new system will use coefficients linked to the BEV. From 1 September, the BEV will be 440,000 soums.

In Tashkent, the monthly fee for one child will range from 54,472 soums for a stay of four to five hours to 413,292 soums for round-the-clock attendance. If several children from the same family attend a preschool institution, the fee per child will range from 36,300 to 294,756 soums, respectively.

In regional administrative centres, the fee for one child will range from 50,292 to 393,008 soums, depending on the length of stay. For families with several children attending kindergarten, the fee will range from 35,244 to 280,852 soums per child.

In cities under regional administration, the monthly fee for one child will range from 44,836 to 350,284 soums. If several children from the same family attend a kindergarten, the fee will range from 33,088 to 248,292 soums per child.

In district centres, the fee for one child will range from 40,568 to 311,828 soums. Families with several children attending kindergarten will pay between 27,764 and 234,432 soums per child.

In other settlements, parents of one child will pay between 36,300 and 290,488 soums per month. If several children from the same family attend a kindergarten, the fee will range from 25,652 to 220,000 soums per child.

The length of a child's stay will also be taken into account. In Tashkent, the coefficients for one child will be 0.1238 BRV for a four-to-five-hour stay, 0.6602 BEV for nine hours, 0.7864 BEV for 10.5 hours, 0.8908 BEV for 12 hours and 0.9393 BEV for round-the-clock attendance.

For several children from the same family in Tashkent, lower coefficients will apply, ranging from 0.0825 BRV for four to five hours to 0.6699 BEV for round-the-clock attendance. The same principle will apply in regional centres, cities under regional administration, district centres and other settlements.

The final monthly parental fee will therefore depend on three main factors: the location of the kindergarten, the length of the child's stay and the number of children from the same family attending the preschool institution.

The new fees will be calculated using the BEV of 440,000 soums, which takes effect on 1 September.
