Uzbekistan Brings 12 Children Back From Russia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Twelve Uzbek minors who had been left without supervision in different regions of Russia were returned to Uzbekistan on 29 August 2026, the Office of the Children’s Ombudsman of Uzbekistan said.

The children’s return resulted from cooperation between Uzbekistan’s Commissioner for Children’s Rights and Russia’s Commissioner for Children’s Rights. During their stay in Russia, the minors were placed in child-care institutions in the regions where they were located.

With assistance from Russia’s Children’s Ombudsman, the children were provided with necessary conditions in the regions where they stayed, including Novosibirsk, Kazan, Tula and the Moscow Region. They received specialised care, accommodation, organised meals, clothing and essential supplies.

On 29 August, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs transported all 12 children to Uzbekistan.

The returned minors are currently temporarily accommodated at the Centre for Social and Legal Assistance to Minors under the Crime Prevention Department of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent.

Uzbekistan’s Children’s Ombudsman said the office intends to continue working with foreign partners and national agencies to return children who remain without supervision abroad to the country.
