Uzbekistan and UNDP expand social protection cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The National Agency for Social Protection and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have agreed to elevate their strategic partnership to a new level by expanding cooperation in the digital transformation of the social protection system and the implementation of modern analytical solutions.

The agreements were reached during a meeting between Mansurbek Olloyorov, Director of the National Agency for Social Protection, and Akiko Fujii, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan.

Mansurbek Olloyorov noted the successful implementation of the joint CHANGE project, which involves the development of a state social insurance system, care service standards, a national strategy, and the Gender Equality Seal initiative for state organizations.

UNDP representatives highly commended the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan and confirmed their readiness to continue supporting the digital modernization of the social protection system and the introduction of international experience.

During the negotiations, the sides identified priority areas for further interaction. These include the use of artificial intelligence technologies and microsimulation modeling in public policymaking, followed by the integration of these solutions into the Social Registry and the case management system.

In addition, the meeting participants discussed the development of a long-term care system for elderly people and persons with disabilities, the expansion of inclusive education, employment promotion, the improvement of the state social insurance system, the execution of actuarial studies, and the strengthening of the agency's analytical capacity.

Following the meeting, the agency director invited UNDP representatives to participate in the World Summit "Investing in Children’s Well-being: A Path to Sustainable and Equitable Development for Future Generations," which will take place on 21–22 October 2026 in Samarkand.

The parties confirmed their intention to intensify joint work on projects in the fields of social protection, digital transformation, analytics, care systems, gender equality, inclusion, and state social insurance.
