Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee discussed with Turkish Airlines increasing the number of flights and jointly promoting the country’s tourism potential in international markets.
The meeting was held with Hussein Güzel, head of the Turkish Airlines representative office in Uzbekistan.
The sides discussed developing bilateral cooperation, expanding air services and using the Turkish carrier’s route network to increase inbound tourism.
Turkish Airlines currently operates 42 flights a week to Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Urgench.
The meeting noted that the airline’s international route network via Istanbul could be used to attract tourists from Europe and the Americas.
In particular, the sides agreed to analyse passenger flows from individual markets, coordinate special tourist fares from priority cities and jointly offer ready-made tour packages entering Uzbekistan through one city and departing from another.
European markets received particular attention. The sides agreed to further explore routes from Amsterdam, Rome, Milan, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin, Prague and Budapest.
A roadshow is also planned in cooperation with Uzbek tour operators to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism opportunities.
Additional opportunities to attract foreign tourists are linked to Turkish Airlines’ transit services through Istanbul.
Passengers with long layovers can use the Touristanbul and Stopover in Istanbul programmes, which provide a free tour of Istanbul or hotel accommodation subject to established conditions.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation between Uzbekistan’s Tourism Committee and Turkish Airlines at the end of October.
In addition, a business breakfast with local tour operators and airline representatives is planned in Tashkent.
The sides also agreed to organise a “Days of Bukhara” event in Türkiye and implement joint marketing campaigns to promote Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in international markets.
