Uzbekistan and Qatar Discuss Medicine, Pharma Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The leadership of the Agency for Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry held a meeting in Tashkent with Hasan Hamza Hashim, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The sides discussed promising areas of cooperation in medicine and pharmaceuticals.

Agency Director Abdullah Azizov provided information on the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan's pharmaceutical sector.

He detailed measures aimed at expanding local production, introducing international GMP and GPP standards, ensuring the quality and safety of medicines, and developing Uzbekistan as a regional center for medicine and pharmaceuticals in Central Asia.

During the talks, participants explored potential cooperation in genomics, the creation of biobanks, regenerative medicine, the application of artificial intelligence technologies, clinical trials, and the implementation of innovative projects.

Special attention was paid to developing interaction with leading universities, scientific centers, and private companies in Qatar. The sides also discussed projects related to technology transfer, specialist training, and investment attraction.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue dialogue to expand practical cooperation, strengthen direct institutional ties, and implement joint projects in medicine and pharmaceuticals.
