Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture held talks with Ian Overton, Acting Director for Water Data at the headquarters of the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), focusing on expanding international cooperation in the rational and efficient use of water resources in agriculture.

The discussions covered key areas of cooperation, including the development of scientific and practical initiatives, strengthening bilateral ties, and exchanging advanced approaches to water management. Special attention was given to adapting the agricultural sector to climate change and water scarcity, as well as ensuring sustainable agricultural production.

The sides also reviewed prospects for implementing pilot projects aimed at improving water use efficiency in agriculture. The talks included the introduction of digital technologies and data-driven solutions designed to more accurately monitor water consumption and support higher agricultural productivity.

Both parties exchanged views on potential future areas of cooperation, including joint projects and strengthening long-term strategic partnership. The preparation of a memorandum of cooperation was also discussed.

The Ministry of Agriculture confirmed its readiness for practical collaboration and implementation of joint projects with the international organization. The sides agreed to continue developing systematic cooperation in water resource management.
