Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Justice and the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China have signed a memorandum of cooperation, Uzbekistan’s Justice Ministry said.

The document was signed following a meeting between Uzbek representatives and a Hong Kong delegation led by Secretary for Justice Paul Lam.

During the talks, the sides discussed prospects for developing bilateral legal cooperation and exchanging experience in lawmaking and legal services. The discussions also focused on the digitalization of the justice system and professional training for specialists.

Particular attention was given to international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. The participants emphasized the importance of practical exchanges of experience and developing direct professional contacts between experts and specialists from Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.

The memorandum sets out priority areas for further cooperation in the legal sphere. In particular, it creates opportunities to expand exchanges of experience and specialists between the two sides.

The agreement also provides for the possibility of holding joint events and implementing projects of mutual interest.

Uzbekistan’s Justice Ministry said the agreements reached are aimed at further developing cooperation with Hong Kong in the field of justice and creating new opportunities for professional collaboration.
