Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tanzila Narbayeva, chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan's Oliy Majlis, discussed ways to expand interparliamentary cooperation with French lawmakers during a meeting in Arusha, Tanzania, on the sidelines of the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The talks were attended by Xavier Iacovelli, vice-president of the French Senate, and Véronique Riotton, a member of France's National Assembly.

The sides considered opportunities to further develop ties between the legislative bodies of the two countries. They supported an initiative to hold meetings between their interparliamentary cooperation groups to make collaboration more regular and practical.

Healthcare cooperation was also discussed. The French side expressed interest in studying Uzbekistan's experience and developing sectoral ties amid reforms aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of medical services.

French representatives also praised the organisation of the 150th anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was held in Tashkent.

They highlighted the conditions Uzbekistan had created for interparliamentary dialogue and the hospitality extended to participants.
