Uzbekistan and France discuss new investment projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Uzbekistan-France roundtable dedicated to the development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation was held in Tashkent on 9 July 2026. The event was attended by representatives of Uzbek state bodies and 17 French companies.
The meeting brought together Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sherzod Ozodzoda, Presidential Advisor on Fuel and Energy Complex Issues Bekhzod Normatov, and Claude Imauven, Chairman of the France-Uzbekistan Business Council at MEDEF International.
Participants noted that relations between Uzbekistan and France have reached the level of a strategic partnership. According to the provided data, bilateral trade turnover reached US$1.4 billion in 2025. For the period of January–May 2026, bilateral trade stood at US$775 million, representing a 150% increase compared to the same period last year.
During the roundtable, the parties discussed expanding practical interaction and implementing joint investment projects.
Key areas of cooperation include energy projects with EDF totaling US$2 billion, an Orano industrial project in the Navoi region valued at US$600 million, and solar and wind energy development projects by Voltalia worth US$325 million.
It was noted that MEDEF International is one of the leading French platforms for developing international trade, technological cooperation, and long-term investment ties in foreign markets.
