Uzbekhydroenergo Expands International Cooperation at Tashkent Investment Forum
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Within the framework of the V Tashkent International Investment Forum, JSC Uzbekhydroenergo held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of leading international companies, financial institutions, and government structures, resulting in important agreements aimed at the further development of the hydropower sector of Uzbekistan.
During the forum, company representatives held negotiations with the American company 77 Construction USA Corp., the Chinese corporation China Huaneng Group, the Indian Adani Group, the Japanese MUFG Bank, the German AKA Bank, the Croatian companies Koncar and In Foro Viridi, representatives of the World Bank Group, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Afghanistan.
Special attention during the meetings was paid to attracting foreign investment into hydropower, expanding public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms, strengthening cooperation with international financial institutions, and introducing modern technologies into the energy sector.
Following the negotiations, concrete agreements were reached on the implementation of strategic projects and the expansion of international partnerships.
In particular, agreements were reached with 77 Construction USA Corp. on expanding cooperation in EPC+F and public-private partnership formats, as well as on participating in the implementation of the project for the construction of the Pskem Hydroelectric Power Plant.
With representatives of the World Bank Group, the prospects for the development of the Khojikent Pumped Storage Power Plant project, the possibilities of using MIGA guarantee mechanisms, and the attraction of grant programs to support investment initiatives were discussed.
One of the key results of the forum was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between JSC Uzbekhydroenergo and the Chinese company China Huaneng Group, which provides for the implementation of major investment projects based on public-private partnership mechanisms.
An agreement was reached with the Indian company Adani Group to establish a joint working group to develop promising projects in the field of hydropower.
During meetings with representatives of MUFG Bank (Japan) and AKA Bank (Germany), mechanisms for the long-term financing of major energy projects being implemented in Uzbekistan were discussed.
In addition, cooperation was established with the Croatian companies Koncar and In Foro Viridi on the implementation of projects for the construction of small and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants.
Special attention was paid to the development of interaction with Afghanistan. Agreements were reached with the Afghan side on cooperation in the field of supplying hydropower equipment and designing hydropower facilities.
As noted during the forum, the reached agreements marked an important step in expanding the international partnership of JSC Uzbekhydroenergo and open up new opportunities for attracting investments, modern technologies, and advanced global experience into the development of the country's hydropower complex.
Participation in the V Tashkent International Investment Forum allowed the company to significantly expand the geography of its international cooperation and form the basis for the implementation of a number of promising projects aimed at strengthening energy security and the sustainable development of Uzbekistan's economy.
