Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A 17-year-old Uzbek citizen who reported being subjected to forced marriage, physical abuse and forced labour in Türkiye has been returned to Uzbekistan with the assistance of the country’s Consulate General in Istanbul and the Migration Fund.

According to the consulate, the girl was taken to Türkiye under the pretext of studying.

She later sought help from the diplomatic mission, reporting the abuse she had experienced and attempts to force her into marriage.

The Consulate General engaged lawyers and provided her with consular and legal assistance. With support from the Migration Fund, she was able to return to Uzbekistan.

Relevant organisations are monitoring arrangements to ensure her safety and provide social, legal and psychological protection.

Uzbek citizens working abroad who experience violence, forced labour, humiliation or severe financial hardship are advised to seek assistance from diplomatic missions and relevant organisations.
