Uzbek-Kyrgyz Business Forum Held in Osh
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An Uzbek-Kyrgyz business forum was held in the city of Osh on the initiative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan together with partner organizations from Kyrgyzstan. More than 200 entrepreneurs from both countries participated in the event and held B2B meetings.
The forum was opened by Osh Mayor Zhanarbek Akaev. The event was also attended by Uzbekistan’s Consul General in Osh Zafarbek Ahmedov, Deputy Chairman of the Association of Small Business of Uzbekistan Muzaffarkhon Musaev, representatives of government bodies, business associations and the business community of both countries.
Speaking at the forum, Zafarbek Ahmedov noted that strategic partnership and good-neighbourly relations between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have been consistently strengthening in recent years, contributing to the development of trade and economic cooperation and interregional ties.
Muzaffarkhon Musaev spoke about reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan to support entrepreneurship, improve the investment climate and expand export potential. He also invited Kyrgyz entrepreneurs to take a more active role in implementing new projects.
The negotiations covered a wide range of sectors, including construction materials production, food industry, agriculture, textile and leather-footwear industries, furniture manufacturing, chemical and plastics industries, pharmaceuticals, electrical engineering, trade, logistics, tourism and services.
Following the meetings, the parties reached a number of agreements aimed at expanding export supplies, developing import-export operations and implementing joint production and investment projects.
